Every fall the mower, the patio set and the summer tires take over the garage, and the car ends up on the street for snow emergency season. SwapShed is a seasonal equipment valet. We pick up what you’re not using, store it for the season, and bring it back the week you need it.
We do the heavy lifting, both ways
SwapShed stores the gear for whichever season you’re not in, so your garage only has to hold one season at a time.
A swap is one visit when the season turns. We take away what you’re done with and bring back what you’re about to need. You don’t rent a truck or find a storage unit, and nobody in your house carries a tire down the basement stairs.

Two of us come and tag it
We show up at your garage, off the alley or the driveway, in a two-hour window you picked. Everything gets a numbered tag and a photo before it goes on the truck, and those photos are on your phone by the afternoon. Most stops take about ten minutes.
We bring it back when you need it
We watch the forecast. About ten days before you’ll want the mower (or the snow blower), you get a text with a few times to choose from. That same visit takes the next season’s things away.

Want the mower sharp in April?
If your mower spends the winter with us, a small-engine shop services it in March, before the repair shops back up: oil change, new spark plug, clean air filter, sharpened blade and a test start. If they find anything else, we call you before any work gets done.

Who runs SwapShed
I’m John Froman, and I live in Lynnhurst. Between the snow tires, the patio furniture, the mower and the snow blower, there was never much room left in my garage for anything else. I wanted someone to come take the off-season half away, so I started SwapShed.
I run SwapShed with one helper. We’re the two people who show up for your swap, and when you email hello@swapshed.co, I’m the one who writes back.

Where we pick up
Our first routes run through southwest Minneapolis, in the 55409, 55410 and 55419 ZIP codes. The garages there are old and small, and a lot of them sit off an alley.
If you’re anywhere else in Minneapolis or a nearby suburb, book anyway. Once a few households close to each other sign up, we add a route, and your ZIP code is how we find out.
If you refer someone and they book their first swap, you both get $25 off your next season. They just put your name in the booking form.
There’s no limit, so three referrals is $75 off. And if they live on your block, even better, because then we’re only driving down it once.
